The Main part of an IR Remote controller is its PCB (Printed circuit board) and to Design its PCB one must have in-depth knowledge of PCB Design software tools (CAD) and PCB design IPC standard and also aware about PCB design strategy  , EMI , EMC and take care of all standard during PCB layout design , along with Design standard one must be familiar about the material of PCB and manufacturing process of PCB as during PCB design , designer must have keep the DFM (Design for manufacture) in mind and capacity of any fabrication house to make PCB as per given Gerber data and standard used in PCB design .

1.       Before going to Design any PCB layout the physical Cabinet or its drawing must be available with designer.
 
2.       Fix the X,Y dimension of PCB which required for any Device or Remote controller .
 
3.       Schematic data must be available.
 
4.       Components placement must be as per Schematic with correct part selection as per specification.
 
5.       Traces must be routed as possible shorter.
 
6.       Follow design rule checks (DRC) for Traces width , Trace to trace Gap , Pad to pad gap , Pad size of through hole components and SMT components .
 
7.       Follow EMI & EMC compliances .
 
8.       Legend (part marking ) of each parts must be clearly visible in Design .
 
9.       Drill detail must be filled or mentioned properly in design along with routing data for outer edge cutting and for rectangular slots inside PCB is used  .
 
10.   PCB Panel with drill detail must be generate carefully .
 
11.   Gerber files must be create with all required fabrication requirement .
 
12.   PCB Material and surface finish must be mentioned clearly i.e OSP , HASL, Nickel Plated ,Gold Plated …..etc .

By following above basic rules one can avoid any unwanted challenges during PCB design and fabrication.
